At the 2019 event, over 5,000 students had the opportunity to experience the region’s high demand careers through hands on activities provided by 70 companies and training providers! Not only did industry connect with the future talent supply but also, 8th-12th graders had access to watching their peers compete in SkillsUSA’s career and technical statewide competitions.

This collaborative is working diligently to attract more students and to ensure the 2020 event is even more successful than the last! Please mark your calendars with the event’s date, use the link below to register your school, and help us promote this wonderful opportunity to our region’s 8th-12th graders.

Partners within this collaborative include the Birmingham Business Alliance, the Alabama Community College System, the Project Corporate Leadership B-Strong Team, the K-12 Systems and Career & Technical Education Personnel. We each recognize, in order to attract and retain young talent for tomorrow’s workforce, they must be educated and engaged through activities that reflect real-world situations and stimulate them intellectually. Our future workforce must also be encouraged to perform at a level that matches that of the economy and early exposure of career expectations and opportunities to the younger generation is critical.

Students attending will have the opportunity to browse and interact with industries, businesses, and post-secondary/four-year universities across Alabama. Attending students will also have the opportunity to witness SkillsUSA student competitors compete in over 65 technical skilled and service occupation contest categories.
